He’s “overjoyed” that Donald Trump has embraced issues that he’s championed for years. This isn’t coincidence. Donald Trump’s dangerous vision for America would divide us and many of our friends and neighbors would not feel safe.

Trump claimed he’d be great for women while in the same breath pledging to block them from accessing care at Planned Parenthood, like birth control, lifesaving cancer screenings, STI testing and treatment, and well-woman exams. What’s more, Trump said he’d rather shut down the government than allow women, men, and young people to access care at Planned Parenthood health centers.

Planned Parenthood health centers are irreplaceable, and they play an outsized role in rural communities, communities of color, and other regions facing health disparities. In fact, an estimated one in five women come to Planned Parenthood in their lifetime. They come to Planned Parenthood for health care –– not to make a political point.

As president, Trump would turn his back on all of these patients and ignore public opinion, which consistently shows strong support for Planned Parenthood.
